Holiday Shows, Music, “Christmas Carol” Performances, Concert with Italian Duo, 35th Anniversary of South Side Restaurant & Much More Highlight Next First Friday/Saturday - DECEMBER 4-5   

‘Tis the season to celebrate the holidays ... art, music, festivities that come alive only this time of year and some new twists on seasonal favorites ... at Binghamton’s annual First Friday/Saturday Holiday Art Walk. Enjoy many holiday shows for unique and handcrafted gifts, music, “Christmas Carol” performances, concert with acclaimed Italian duo, 35th anniversary of south side restaurant, and more, during the two-day event on Friday, December 4, 6-9 PM, and Saturday, December 6, 11 AM-5 PM at 31 different venue locations downtown, west side and south side.

        A new twist this year on a seasonal favorite, “A Christmas Carol,” will be held at Phelps Mansion Museum (191 Court St.) with performances every Friday/Saturday evening at 7:30 PM, leading up to Christmas (Thru Dec. 19, 2015). "Step back in time to Christmas Eve of 1843 where Ebebeezer Schrooge learns the 'true meaning of Christmas.' Audience members to move from room to room with performers as they observe the familiar scenes of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, Christmas Future and Mr. Fezziwigs' Christmas party.” Tickets limited to 30 audience members per show; admission $30/each, $50/couple.  Reservations essential, tickets, call 722.4873 or EM:  On Saturday, Dec. 5, from 11-5, there will be Guided Mansion Tours, every half hour, $5/adult, $4/student or senior.

On First Friday, there’s the Italian Night at the Binghamton University Downtown Center/UDC, featuring acclaimed Italian Singer-Songwriter Diana Tejera (from Rome) and Jazz Trumpeter Ersilia Prosperi in Ed Mondo duo, performing a free concert at 7:30 PM. Prior to their concert, there’s Italian Open Mic at 6, with performances by BU students, faculty, community members. After Ed Mondo's performance, there will be a Meet-the-Artists/CD signing at the UDC. [The recently formed duo, Ed Mondo, is in the U. S. to tour and record their first album together.]

1) Cooperative Gallery 213 (213 State St., Artists Row): Annual Holiday Show Featuring Gallery Members & Supporting Members: Art of All Kinds Fine Handcrafts Pottery Woodwork Jewelry...Perfect for unique holiday gift giving! 4) Atomic Tom’s (196 State St., Artists’ Row): Holiday Pop Up Marketplace featuring artisan wares including jewelry, floral arrangements, body products and soft goods. Twig and Thread will be open in the Gallery with the usual unusual items:  Vintage, home décor, and repurposed metal. Live music on Friday; food and beverages provided. 5) HealthLinkNY (49 Court St.): Dec. 4, 6-9, only: Holiday Sale featuring multiple craft vendors & artists selling their work, just in time for the holidays! Unique gifts for family &'ll find the perfect handcrafted gift at our Holiday Sale! Free holiday food & refreshments provided.

At Whole in the Wall (43 S. Washington St., south side), it’s the restaurant’s 35th Anniversary with a celebration that kicks off on Thursday, Dec. 3 through Sunday, December 6, their official anniversary day (WITW Restaurant opened Dec. 6, 1980).  From Dec. 3-5 from 11-9, restaurant patrons can enjoy a free Big Tease Brownie Sundae with any entree and 1/2 off mini bottle of Prosecco sparkling wine  (normally $8, sale $4).  On Sunday, Dec. 6, from 1-5, Whole in the Wall will host their 35th Anniversary Party and invites the public to stop by for the celebration, free admission.

Also, be sure to check out another new First Friday venue, The Place on Court (73 Court St.) that recently opened and located in the former Merlin's! On Dec. 4:  Music by Parlor Cats band from 8 PM-12AM; no cover.

Additionally on First Friday, the City of Binghamton is planning on lighting the Tree of Lights that the Gorgeous Washington Street Association donated last year at 7 PM on Friday (12/4) at the corner of Court and State Streets.  Public invited to attend, free admission.

        This First Friday Art Walk, presented by GWSA and sponsored in part by Equinox Broadcasting, M&T Bank, and Triple Cities Carousel, will feature 31 locations in Binghamton, downtown, west side, and south side, and open Friday from 6-9 PM and Saturday, 11-5, unless noted otherwise.
